Added 2023-09-09 15:44:06 +0000 UTCI don’t have the energy to write a whole essay about this, but I’m saying something about desire in this post that I also kind of speak to in my page as a whole. Western culture poses sexuality and desire with a very specific set of sensationalized qualities - peak youthfulness, health, and happiness are desirable. A certain appearance and set of behaviours is desirable. Understandably, people portray themselves that way to be accepted as desirable, and/or for capital gain. I like to shed light on other ways of being when I can. Beauty and desire can be found in the whole spectrum of human experience. There is definitely something ableist about the way we expect people to be fully functional and well in order to be sexual. And, holding opposing understandings as simultaneously possible, I find it important to remember that not all nudity, beauty, and desire is most authentically understood as overtly sexual. If you can tune into the subtleties and the nuances, some experiences can arouse all kinds of different feelings aside from (or in tandem with) sexual arousal. Today I woke up feeling incredibly unwell, in pain and nauseated and dizzy. In this video I decided to give you a peek into a few minutes of what caring for myself in this state looks like. The goal was to turn the camera on and forget it was there which is a challenge, but I did a decent job of giving you a real look into my current experience. My take is that it’s sad, and beautiful, and boring, and curious. Anyways, that is all. I’ve had a really intense few days on the heels of some very low weeks. I’m going to continue watching treehouse of horrors and resting. Thanks for reading and watching if you choose to 😘
