Smooshed round my tiny dining table with loved ones is my happy place. Long evenings spent feasting on culinary delights as we put the world to rights. So, while we all sit tight during the colder weather, I’m setting you a challenge to get to know each other better. Eight seats (including you), seven bottoms at your fantasy dinner table. Alive or dead, who will you invite? One rule: don’t take it too seriously – if someone inspires and lights up your life, pull up a chair. Here is my shortlist and it took me flippin’ ages. Freddie Mercury My idol, my love. This captivating man would light up the room. We need a throne. Sir David Attenborough This awe-inspiring man gave the natural world a voice and has been such an influence in my life and now my son’s. Uzo Aduba I was late to the party but am addicted to Orange is The New Black. And Uzo’s portrayal of ‘Crazy Eyes’ Suzanne Warren had my emotions all over the shop. Mental health brought to the fore in a beautiful way. Tom Hanks An absolute legend. Not only does his method acting draw you into every character he plays, he is also a sound guy! Nigella Lawson I could name dozens of chefs and cooks I’d love to entertain, but this sultry lady is special. Warm, curvy and unashamedly fond of simple yet decadent food, Nigella is such fun. As a fellow midnight fridge raider, I’d let her stay over too. Olly Murs Love his music, his cheeky way, and that infectious laugh. I’m also unashamedly attracted to him. Table eye-candy! Giovanna Fletcher I just love her. I’ve enjoyed every one of romance novels, am an avid follower of her ‘Happy Mum Happy Baby’ podcast, and just love the down-to-earth, hilarious woman she is. So, until I can lose myself in the local farm shops and markets again, I shall be cosying up with a stack of my favourite books to plan an entire autumn and winter of easy entertaining.
