As the light leaves our evenings and the woodlands return to evergreens, I am working on a new home project to bring nature indoors. We all undeniably have a strong connection with nature. Even the naughtiest of us that enjoy the delicious thrill of taking our sexual passions outside – a beach, a secluded wood, by the side of a silent lake. An ongoing giggle in my family - my love and affinity with nature, yet I’m the literal kiss of death to all flora, spending its last few days drying out on the windowsill. I feel at peace and at my calmest when immersed in the natural world. And I’m not a traveller. It doesn’t have to be crashing waterfalls or mountain peaks - it can be as simple as waves gently rolling onto a pebble beach, or the swish of a willow tree in the wind. As a small business owner operating from home, I am working to bring more natural light, living plants and natural elements /materials into my home. The official term is ‘biophilia’ or ‘biophilic design’ – the architecture of life. The biophilia hypothesis suggests that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. First step, although this might seem like brain trickery, is my little ‘living wall’. Yes, its plastic for those with a keen eye, but it’s a start towards a more natural home. I aspire to create a true living wall (plants are literally shaking in their pots!), using a hydroponic system to care for them. I’m bringing in natural materials such as wood and stone, alongside different colours and textures that emanate natural elements. If I’ve not bored you to death (like my plants!), this guy is my inspiration – Oliver Heath - Google him :)
