We just had our last meal before surgery. It’s hitting us that we are getting closer to surgery. 🙏🙏🙏🙏We are both digging deep for our inner strength as we await tomorrow 🙏I gave my son a head massage as we processed how we are feeling about his surgery tomorrow. He is more nervous about the pain after the surgery than the actual surgery. We talked about our pain med plan and how he may be feeling when he wakes up from his surgery. It helped us both to face it and talk through it together 🙏I showed him how I would be sitting during the surgery in the waiting room and had him laughing as he told me to remember to take some deep breaths. ♥️

We have had a Pulmonologist, Surgeon and Hospitalist talk with us today. I went to the desk late last night with tears running down my cheeks and told them we needed more information and time with the Pulmonologist so we can discuss an action plan and have a better understanding of my son’s health condition. He will have lung surgery tomorrow since his lung isn’t staying up on its own and keeps collapsing. He has a top Surgeon who has a lot of experience with this surgery. Two bigger tubes will be placed in his chest for drainage 🙏It has been planned for my son to have a pain pump so he can be more comfortable after this surgery 🙏🙏🙏

Good morning after a long night.♥️ We are waiting for a Pulmonologist to come talk with us so we can discuss why my son’s lung keeps collapsing when we stop the suction and oxygen treatments 🙏My daughter sent me these pictures of our doggies aww their sweet faces made me smile. I think it’s important to focus on the things that make me smile right now to help bring my smile back ♥️I want to be smiling for my son when I’m helping him so he feels hope! It’s time to dig very very deep for my inner strength!🙏 I’m so excited for when my son is better and we get to go home!♥️

We received some really hard news. The X-ray results showed the pneumothorax has returned for the second time. 😢My son is on a higher dosage of oxygen and they have turned the suction to his chest tube back on 🙏 We had family to our hospital room and they brought dinner for us. I am trying to stay so strong but I couldn’t help crying with this news. My son reminded me that they are tears of strength just like I reminded him when he was crying. I wish I could change places with him and take his pain away 🙏

My son’s x-ray results showed the pneumothorax is gone but they are being cautious because it returned after the last time it had been gone. The pulmonologist is going to come in and talk to us about possibly clamping his tube or waiting longer with the tube in him so it diminishes the chance of it returning. 🙏

My reclining chair bed next to my son♥️I like the sound of the oxygen and bubbler to add humidity 😘 I’m getting good at brushing his teeth while he is on bed rest. He is going to have some pearly whites when he leaves the hospital. I’m going to learn how to wash his hair while he is in bed tomorrow because his scalp is itching. His X-ray showed that his pneumothorax and atelectasis are still present so he needs to keep the tube in his chest. I hope we get good news after his next X-ray tomorrow morning!🙏 I’m praying his oxygen levels don’t drop tonight 🙏🙏

My son’s oxygen levels have been dropping tonight. It is so scary when the machine beeps loudly when it drops below the normal range. They just did another X-ray because his chest is making weird noises when he tries to take a deep breath ♥️

I’m so happy my son ate his applesauce and Mac and cheese! He had hardly been eating and needs his strength. I wish I had more of an appetite but it’s hard for me to eat when I’m so worried about him. ♥️ We are going to FaceTime my other son so we can join his birthday party tonight! He visited me at the hospital for mama birthday hugs today ❤️💝His pneumothorax still has not cleared but hopefully it will soon so he can get the chest tube out! 🙏

Great news!!!!! We received results from the last X-ray and my son’s Pneumothorax and atelectasis have cleared!!!! The Dr clamped his chest tube to make sure his lung stays filled. They will then do another X-ray at 10:30 tonight and if it looks good they will take the tube out of his chest in the morning! It sounds like he will be able to go home tomorrow for my other son’s family birthday party if the X-ray looks good! 🙏♥️Yipeee dooders!!!!! 🎈🎉🍕♥️

Thanks for all your support and prayers!🙏We are having a rough time because my son’s fever keeps spiking. It was up to 103.6. 🙏 I’m reading my notes from the Doctors and researching info about my son’s pneumothorax and atelectasis while he is sleeping so I can be knowledgeable and keep advocating for him🙏♥️We both fit nice in his hospital bed together ♥️
